The Magnes Museum of Jewish Art and Life
University of California, Berkeley
A Russian-born modernist photographer, Roman Vishniac, is most celebrated for documenting Eastern-European Jewish life in the years immediately preceding the Jewish Holocaust. His most iconic images from that time are presented in this inaugural installation for The Magnes, who acquired the Roman Vishniac Archive as a gift in 2018.
